Information from the Hessian Ministry for Social Affairs and Integration on gastronomy and overnight stays

Restaurants, refectories, hotels, canteens, ice cream parlors, ice cream cafés and other businesses may offer food and beverages for collection and delivery if a spacing and hygiene concept in accordance with § 5 CoSchuV exists and is implemented.

Furthermore, food and beverages may be offered for consumption on site if a spacing and hygiene concept in accordance with § 5 CoSchuV is also in place and implemented and only persons with proof of vaccination, proof of recovery or proof of testing (negative proof, § 3 CoSchuV) are present indoors.

The same requirements apply to events in restaurants and businesses as to other events and cultural events

Events and gatherings in public spaces with more than 25 participants are permissible under the following conditions, if outdoors with more than 1,000 participants and in enclosed spaces only persons with negative proof (§ 3 CoSchuV) are present and a spacing and hygiene concept (§ 5 CoSchuV) exists and is implemented.

In hotels and other accommodation establishments with communal facilities, negative proof (§ 3 CoSchuV) must be presented on arrival and twice a week for longer stays.

2G option model

Organisers and private operators have the option of admitting only vaccinated and recovered persons. Staff must also comply with the 2G rule. Substantial corona-related restrictions do not apply in this case: Spacing rules no longer apply, nor do the mask requirement and capacity restrictions. Children and adolescents under 18 years of age are exempt from the 2G obligation if they have negative proof in accordance with §3 CoSchuV (e.g. test booklet or rapid test) as well as persons who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons and prove this by a written medical certificate which also contains the full name and date of birth and with proof of testing in accordance with §3.

Overnight stays

Overnight accommodation facilities, including catering for overnight guests, are permissible if negative proof in accordance with § 3 CoSchuV (vaccinated, recovered, tested) is presented upon arrival and twice a week for stays of more than seven days (this does not apply if no communal facilities are operated in the accommodation), and a hygiene concept in accordance with § 5 is in place and implemented.
